So I'm going to get right to the point here, WITHOUT giving any spoilers. If you enjoy books about girls going through some very horrible things, and coming out strong and surviving... This book WILL have you gripped.
But if you have to force yourself to read through all of these things (like me) because the "happy ending" is what inspires you most, then you have the WRONG book.
Now I'm not childish or stomping around because some book doesn't have a happy ending, I'm deeply concerned for the person who wrote this, maybe she was just bored, who knows. But she concocted the most horrible situations that I've ever read in a book (and i have read MOST of these types of books) Just to finish it off with an ending so horrible it made the first 350 pages look like a picnic.
This book does not have a happy ending. It has an ending where you sadly regret putting yourself through all that trauma of starting it in the first place.
I'm really not one to make bad reviews, because each and every book I've ever read gave me something to take with me in life, some sort of new understanding or knowledge. But honestly i got nothing here, except for regret that i took on this "sorry adventure" because that's completely what it felt like toward the end.
On a lighter note, it was a good read the first 200 pages or so, a very very good read... I refused to put it down. It was an incredible story and in those pages i actually made a vow that i would buy more of this author's books. Now that I assume she was bored while writing this book i really don't trust her. She's a loose canon like i haven't encountered in a long time.
If it were me reading this very review, i would have actually gotten the book to prove the bad review wrong... So forever who is getting the book to prove my review wrong,
Just take this small bit of advice?
Toward the end she is going to become extremely happy, and you'll sort of get annoyed with those 100 pages or so... QUIT RIGHT THERE.
Do not be tempted with curiosity to see the outcome. I wish i just put it down right there and accepted that as her happy ending. But like the author, i was also bored so i had to go on.
All in all I give it two stars.

BELIEVE LIKE A CHILD edition by Paige Dearth Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
I could not put this book down. My vision was blurry from constantly reading without a break. So much going on, fast paced and so many emotions it brings out in the reader. While I read this book, so many times I gasped, or said out loud "Oh my god" or said "Oh no, are you kidding me"? I laughed, and I cried. I don't think I've ever read a book that brought me into the story as if I were there, and I was seeing it first hand as much as this book did. Giving it only 5 stars seems too little. I cannot wait to start another book by Paige Dearth. I certainly hope they can stand up to this one. Definitely a fan!!
This is terrify and page turning, the subject matter is something so socking but truly needs to be read.
Although not for everyone, the author’s intention is to bring to light the perils of those who have been taken advantage off. And with that hopes that her stories bring awareness and hopefully prevention.
For me I couldn’t put it down, Alessa though beaten down at every turn shows that even when you can only see darkness at the end of the tunnel; you keep going till you see the light.
Not every story had a happy ending, but it’s what you take from it that matters.
*Alessa*
“Today, I will start my life over. And tomorrow, I will build on today and carry on in the same way every day thereafter.”
WOW!! A powerful novel that will stay with me for a long time!! Alessa is such an amazing and powerful character that I found myself truly invested in her and her story...I would not hesitate to give it more than 5 stars if possible! I absolutely adore Lucy and who wouldn't?!
As with When Smiles Fade...Believe Like a Child had me on an emotional rollercoaster with heart pounding. Paige Dearth's writing skills are extraordinary in a way that puts you right there in the moment! It is impossible not to feel for her characters as well as the situations they find themselves in.
The subject of this series of books is absolutely a difficult one to read (as well as write, I would imagine) however Paige does an incredible job bringing it to the forefront, heart wrenching and thought provoking. It hurts my heart to know that there are scared and lonely children out there living in such horrifying and deplorable situations.
My suggestion Read these novels with an open mind and most especially an open heart!! AND a box of tissues close by...but read them!
all put an end to it.
The beginning of Paige Dearth's first book, Believe Like A Child, is based on her life throughout her childhood. It is absolutely heart breaking and infuriating to know that any child has gone through this nightmare. It is a tough read, but if you want to learn about determination, grit, strength, pure love, and compassion, you should read Alessa's story.
Alessa escapes from one terrifying situation into another. When she is finally able to feel safe, it never lasts long. At first she is young, afraid, and cannot stand up for herself. It causes her much pain and anguish to be used in some way by almost every person in her life. In time she does make a few friends, some with very deep bonds that allow her to be somewhat happy at times.
Paige Dearth's books share characters, each one pops up in other's stories, and you find out more about their lives. Her stories also have some extremely satisfying situations where some of the abusers get a whole lot of what they deserve. Other than the main characters finding a little bit of security and happiness here and there, those are my favorite parts of the book, bad guys getting some of what they've given.
Soon I am going into Paige Dearth's fifth and last book that I've not yet read, Never Be Alone, to read Joon's story, and to see if anyone from the other books makes an appearance.
So I'm going to get right to the point here, WITHOUT giving any spoilers.
