Clutch I Am Just Junco Dot Com Book One Volume 1 J A Huss Books
Its no secret that JA Huss is a fantastic writer. I won a facebook contest free book from a recent series signed and a $25 Amazon GC. She was so incredibly nice I purchased all her books. I left this series for last as except for vampire or horror I'm not a Scifi reader. Wow was I wrong I flew all 6 books in 5 days. These books are far better then any of the top 10 fiction authors I've read in the past. She is so incredible at weaving intricate interesting stories you can't put down. To see all the books she read at the end of book 6 that she read in order to have the knowledge to write this series is incredible! Junco, Tier, Luca, the 039 warrior team and HOUSE had me laughing out loud sometimes between 2am-4am(husband was peeved). Crying yes JA Huss you had me crying those last 2 books. I just turned 50 and I haven't cried while reading a book in about 15 years. Take a Journey with Junco booked 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.5, 5 and 6. You will not be sorry you read these. The 3star and below ratings are people with no imagination these books were Spectacular and now that I finished book 6 an hour ago I'm a a total loss now that these characters are done. I feel so lonely for some reason without them. How have they not been purchased by Hollywood's best and made into a 3 or 4 movie sequel is unbelievable to me. Thank you to a fantastic writer who made my week so much more it was a great ride!!! I give this 10 stars. JA Huss storytelling is fantastic!

Clutch I Am Just Junco Dot Com Book One Volume 1 J A Huss Books Reviews
I love the detailed descriptions Huss gives. They are cinematic in quality, and specific as only words can be. The plot line has a relentless thriller rhythm that is as good the second time. This is one of the highest praises I can give to any book. Junco is a clear case of a young woman traumatized into dysfunctionality. Junko is fighting to recover the life stolen from her. We fight alongside Junko to also recover our own lives. I am disappointed to find so few reviews of Junco's saga. She is a young woman who has been retrofitted to house the remains of a human being, the genetics of an alien race, and the capacity to integrate artificial intelligence into her functioning. In other words, a cyborg. It is interesting that the people who relentlessly criticize her for her dysfunctionality are the same ones who have changed her into a cyborg with deadly skills. In this first book we discover the chaos within the humans who have weaponized her, the aliens who see her as an enemy weapon which must be destroyed, and Junco's own confusion as she must discover the changes made to her humanity, while keeping alive while under attack. The whole series is an operatic saga, but this first book is my favorite as Junco emerges into the cross fire while discovering who she is. Just like real life!
What's it like to be stuck in 1st person narrative with slightly psychotic amnesiac with selective memory repression? I found it frustrating. The reader really never has any clue what's really going on... I think that was ok for maybe 50% of the book, but then it just became exhausting. Over and over we got this merri-go-round of actually thinking we're about to learn something, then its put off...or we learn something, but find out the next chapter that it wasn't true.
What really saved this book from a 2-star rating was the character of Junco and her dry, self-deprecating wit. The author does this very well and its really the only thing that kept me reading at times.
But what killed it for me was the final events, that just didn't make any sense.
Spoiler Alert
1) Why is Aren even alive? We were told (and shown) that Tier killed him.
2) How did Aren "hack" a sentient AI in the house? How did he "hack" the SEAR bio-print?
3) Aren used a digitally fabricated recording of Junco to trigger the house AI lockdown...are AIs that dumb?
4) OK, assume AI is that dumb...why is Aren immune from being targeted? We're told that that the person who triggers Lockdown gets immunity...but Junco's "voice" triggered it, not Aren.
5) Why does the AI target Junco? the whole purpose of the house AI is to safeguard Junco, the AI recognizes Junco, the AI initiates Lockdown based on Junco's "order"...this is just poorly thought out deus ex machine. I would be far more likely to feel forgiving if it weren't for the fact that its the end of the book and I STILL have no idea what's really going on. How am I supposed to "trust" the author with being spoon-fed information, when there are absurd logic issues?
6) Should we assume that if, for example, Junco's father triggered lockdown, Junco would be slain for blinking? or coughing in her sleep?
7) No home defense system would be set up to "chop someone into thousands of pieces in under a second" with lasers.
8) Why is Junco all of a sudden able to get away by shouting LULLIBY? Maybe its better this wasn't explained, as it could in no way reconcile with the previous "facts"
9) Why does Aren feel comfortable torturing Junco in front of the press all of a sudden?
10 How does Junco suddenly enter the VR world and get help from her dead lover?
I won't be buying the next book. I would, however, consider reading this author down the road a bit...the problems I have with the book can be easily fixed with a bit more experience, and the witty self-dialog shows signs of a real talent for writing.
